Cervelo S2 and R2

Cervelo R2Cervelo have recently launched 2 new bikes – the S2 aero bike that came out earlier in the year, and the brand new R2, which was launched last week.

Cervelo S2
Cervelo S2
The S2, which is essentially an S3 frame with a more economical fork, retails for B#2399 and allows a relatively affordable entry into the world of Cervelo aero bikes. The S2 has the aerodynamic front triangle of the S5 with the comfort offered by the rear end of a R series bike. We have these in stock already at Cycle Art.

Cervelo R2
The R2, which mirrors the trickle down effect of the S2, is the entry level R Series bike. R Series bikes, which are born of the same DNA as the highly praised Project California, retails at B#1999 and features the same frame as the R3 but with a more economical fork. Finished in white with red graphics, it is equipped with Shimano’s new 105 11 speed groupset. As soon as these bikes land in the UK, we will have them.

Cervelo for women
Whilst Cervelo do not have a women’s specific design, the smaller models can easily be adjusted to fit the female body, with narrow bars, shorter cranks arms and a female specific saddle.

Introducing… the Cervelo Wall!

Cycle Art's Cervelo Wall

When it comes to Cervelo in the North East, Northumberland and County Durham, there is only one destination worth considering – Cycle Art in Prudhoe.

Why?

Let us proudly introduce… The Cervelo Wall.

At Cycle Art, we believe each bike we sell to be a piece of art, and none more so than a Cervelo. Each Cervelo on our wall is mounted in an oversize picture frame, creating a gallery of some of the most exotic and desirable bicycles around.

Cervelo R5 Di2 at Cycle ArtHanging up on our Cervelo wall we have the brand new super slippery P3, the ever popular, multiple Iron Man winning P2, the brand new S2, and David Millar’s ride of choice, the S5 aero road bike. The P5 and S3, the only aero bikes not on our shop floor, are on their way to us shortly too.

If lightweight is more your thing, we also have an R3, an R3 Dark, and a stunning, B#8000 Di2 equipped 2014 R5 – the same R5 frame that was used by the likes of Dan Martin and Tyler Farrar for Garmin Sharp Cervelo. A new R5, which is essentially a production version of the Rca, has already been in our shop – but it lasted 30 minutes before a customer bought it. He was pretty impressed with it, as you can see for yourself here. For more information on the Cervelo R Series of bikes, why not read our “In the spotlight…” article.

We also have a couple of R3 Darks left in stock – this rare bike is actually a 2013 R5 badged up as an R3 and built up with SRAM’s fantastic 11 speed Force groupset for a bargain B#3000 (the frame alone was B#3500 last year). We have had customers coming up from as far as London in order to buy an R3 Dark, so if you ride a 51 or a 56, we might have your dream bike waiting for you.

Cervelo R5 Di2We have more than a dozen Cervelos in stock, built and ready to ride with more being built in the workshop, and even more on their way from Cervelo. Not only that, rather than stocking Cervelo simply because we can, our passionate and knowledgeable staff actually own, ride and race Cervelos themselves, meaning we can talk to you at great length about the Canadian brand, how their bikes ride, what it is to own one, and why their bikes are some of the best in the world. So, if you’re in the market for a Cervelo, where else would you go?

To help you build the bike of your dreams, we have a large range of products from what we believe to be industry leaders including Castelli, Kask, Bont, Fi:zi’k, Mavic, Pro, 3T, SRAM, Campagnolo, Shimano, Schwalbe, Clement, ISM and many more. We take great pleasure in sitting down for a coffee with you and going through one of our comprehensive build sheets, helping you spec up your ultimate Cervelo. Furthermore, every Cervelo we sell includes a proper bike fit from our in-house bike fit expert who carries out hundreds of fits a year, as well as a free first service to ensure your pride and joy works as well as it looks.

A freshly ground Caffe Praego coffeeCycle Art is not just a typical bike shop that happens to stock Cervelo. In addition to a large range of Cervelo bikes and other stunning road bikes, Cycle Art has a cafe that sells freshly ground Caffe Praego coffee, home made cakes, scones and cookies and freshly made to order sandwiches. You can also watch Cervelo’s “Beyond the Peleton” video diaries on our widescreen TV whilst you eat and drink.

So, if it’s a Cervelo you are after, why go to a normal bike shop when you can come to Cycle Art?

At Cycle Art, we are Cervelo.

Monthly Newsletter – September

Cycle Art will soon be introducing a monthly newsletter that you will be able to sign up for. In the meantime (whilst we’re waiting on the techy people to do their thing), we’re posting the September issue here on the website. Enjoy!

Cervelo R3 Dark2014 Cervelos
Cervelo has always made some of the most desirable road bikes available, and for a short time only they have made them cheaper too. To make way for exciting new R3 and R5 models, Cervelo have introduced a limited “Dark Edition” version of their R3. “What’s so great about that?” we hear you ask. It’s not an R3. It’s an R5 disguised as an R3. Whilst the 105 equipped bike is already out of stock, you can still get hold of a SRAM Force 22 equipped Cervelo R3 (an R5 frame with an R3 sticker on) for B#2999. Bearing in mind last year’s R5 frame was B#3499, the R3 Dark is B#500 less as a full bike! Be warned though – they are selling fast and are only available in limited sizes so if you are interested, get in touch as soon as you can.

We also have a limited supply of 105 equipped Cervelo R3 bikes using last year’s R3 frameset – these are available for B#1999.

We have a range of Ridley bikes including 2 lightweight Helium road bikes both with Ultegra groupsets. Vuelta CookiesLa Vuelta a Espana 2013
With the Giro d’Italia and Le Tour de France out of the way, only 1 grand tour remains unsettled – La Vuelta a Espana. Often seen as the poorer sibling of the Italian and French offerings, with it’s sun scorched mountain climbs and white villages La Vuelta is unique and beautiful in it’s own way. It is also usually the most exciting and demanding. More often than not it is contested mainly by Spanish GC contenders but this year, American Chris Horner and Irishman Nicholas Roche are in the running for a good position as well as the usual suspects such as Purito, Valverde and company. We’d obviously prefer if either Garmin Sharp or Lotto Belisol had a GC contender so advertising our bikes would be easier but such is life!

So, why not pop up to Cycle Art, have a freshly ground Caffe Praego coffee and home baked cake and watch the race live on our widescreen TV? Even better, why not try one of our home made Vuelta cookies which are hand decorated in either the leader’s red jersey, climber’s blue polka dot jersey or sprinter’s green jersey!

Castelli winter clothingGet ready for winter with Cycle Art
No one wants to hear it, but the sad fact is winter is looming large. If you are planning on commuting by bike, training, or riding through the winter months you need to be able to see and be seen, keep warm and dry, and have the right bike for the conditions.

Cycle Art has a range of winter ready clothes from Castelli and Mavic and a large range of lights from Lezyne to ensure you are safe and comfortable when the nights draw in and weather deteriorates.

If you’re looking for the ideal winter training bike we can build up a Sabbath September or Silk Route based on your exact requirements. If you’d prefer something that can go anywhere and do anything then we have a great range of cross bikes from Ridley including the 2014 Xbow and a few 2013 models in limited sizes. If you are needing luggage, we can take you across the road to Bicycle Repair Man!

Aero Road Bikes

There was a time when a road bike frame was a road bike frame. These days, there seems to be more and more choice, which can be confusing, especially when it comes to choosing the right bike for our hilly terrain, poor road surfaces and windy conditions. The aero road bike is designed to be as slippery as possible whilst retaining light weight and stiffness. Cervelo argue that for most of us, an aero road bike is actually more suitable than a standard lightweight bike – Cervelo – Aero vs Lightweight. The argument of whether an aero road bike, lightweight road bike or endurance road bike is most suitable for the North East roads will rage on, but if you think an aero road bike is for you, we can certainly help you choose the best bike for your needs.

Aero Bikes

Cycle Art has a choice of 4 aero road bikes in stock (5 if you include the women’s specific version). These include:

Cervelo S2
Cervelo S2The Cervelo S2 – The original and still one of the most desirable. Using Cervelo’s TrueAero tube shapes and SmartWall carbon layup technology, the S2 is a true legend of the Pro Peleton.

Ridley Noah FAST
Ridley Noah FAST
The Ridley Noah FAST – Ridley are at the forefront of aero technology. Both their Noah FAST aero road frame and Dean time trial frame share many features, including F-Brake (an integrated aero brake), F-Splitfork (which reduces turbulence behind the front fork) and F-Surface (a textured surface on leading edges).

Ridley Noah RS
Ridley Noah RS
The Ridley Noah Fast RS – Using trickle down technology from the Noah FAST, the Noah RS offers many of the same features and benefits of the FAST, but with a lower grade carbon and a more traditional rear end and without the F-Brake.

Giant Propel
Giant PropelThe Giant Propel Advanced – Giant didn’t launch their Propel until they were absolutely certain they had a winner, to the point where the Taiwanese company challenged Specialized to bring their Venge to a wind tunnel for a head to head. Specialized didn’t reply.

Giant Envie
Giant Envie
The Giant Envie Advanced – Giant are one of the most proactive bike manufacturers when it comes to women’s bikes, and the Envie is Giant’s ladies version of the Propel. Giant essentially adjust the geometry to be more specific for the shape and size of the female rider, and equip the bike with narrower bars, shorter cranks, and a female specific saddle.
